Keystart launches new Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan
Keystart has launched our new Innovate Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), marking a significant milestone in our reconciliation journey. We recognise the importance of embracing reconciliation as an integral part of our corporate identity and operations.
Keystart's CEO, Mark Tomasz, reflected on the progress made and reaffirmed the organisation's ongoing commitment to reconciliation.
"Our journey towards reconciliation has been rewarding, with tangible improvements in the way we do business since the launch of Keystart's Reflect RAP in 2021. Keystart remains committed to providing better housing outcomes and opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples throughout Western Australia. We still have much to learn, but our Innovate RAP is another small step to closing that gap.” Mr Tomasz said.
The implementation of the Innovate RAP includes a series of actions that demonstrate our commitment to enhancing cultural competence across the organisation.
On Tuesday 27 August, Keystart held a launch event to mark the milestone and highlight the organisation's commitment to ensuring fairness and respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Keystart has committed to key employment strategies including targeting a 50% increase in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce representation by 2026. This strategy includes expanding the Aboriginal Traineeship Program, which has already successfully transitioned trainees into permanent roles and set them up for their future careers.
Additionally, Keystart will focus on lifting the workforce representation in senior and management roles in the business.
Mr Tomasz added, “Community is at the heart of Aboriginal culture, and through our work, we strive to support and strengthen these communities by offering more pathways to home ownership.”
Keystart has long recognised the need for culturally appropriate support and resources to assist Aboriginal people on their home ownership journey. Our Aboriginal Home Ownership Scheme, supported by a dedicated team, continues to create pathways to homeownership that otherwise wouldn't be there. These programs not only provide practical support but also help to empower Aboriginal communities by creating more opportunities for economic independence and self-determination.
Looking ahead, Keystart is committed to transparently reporting on its RAP progress, with annual updates from July 2025.
